Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity (the Charity) are a dynamic NHS Charity supporting the University Hospitals of Derby & Burton NHS Foundation Trust (the Trust), which includes Royal Derby Hospital, Queens Hospital - Burton, Florence Nightingale Community Hospital, Sir Robert Peel Community Hospital in Tamworth, Samuel Johnson Community Hospital in Lichfield and other satellite sites in Ilkeston.

 

The Charity supports the work of the Trust through funding medical equipment, research & training, patient experience and staff wellbeing.

 

The Charity is able to support the Trust due to its amazing supporters and fundraisers going above and beyond to help to provide those extras over and above what the NHS provides.

 

It is an exciting time for the Charity as we grow our Team and progress our journey to becoming an independent Charity. This role is supporting that journey. The Charity is looking to streamline its file structures and ensure that all records adhere to the Retention and Destruction Policy. 
 

What you will be doing:

  • Work with the Charity Team, to assess the current files held and agree whether these need to be retained, archived or destroyed.
  • Collect and organize data from various digital and hard copy sources, including historical data where applicable. 
  • Assist with processing core charity records by reviewing paper and electronic folders, filing, retrieving, relocating, scanning and destroying information in accordance with charity records management procedures and adhering to the Retention & Destruction Policy.
  • Establishing the new file structure, in conjunction with the Charity Head of Governance, to support new ways of working for the charity
  • Providing advice and support to colleagues and clients in a friendly and helpful manner.

Qualifications

What they are looking for:

  • Pro-active and able to work on your own initiative following receipt of direction/scope of project.
  • Knowledge and understanding of handling and analysing data, both digital and hard copy.  
  • Experience of working effectively and supporting the development of a range of organisational procedures.

Applications Details

Duration:150 hours (part time, maximum of 20 hours per week, completed within 10 weeks)

Working Locations: Onsite/Remote.  There will be an element of both, particularly when reviewing the hard copy resources.

Start Date: 20th January 2025 

Rate of Pay: £12.37 per hour

Suitable for: Students and graduates with an interest in Business and education, and events. 

Closing Date: Friday 22nd November

Interview Dates:  Wednesday 11th December

Eligibility: Undergraduate, Postgraduate students and recent graduates (for up to 2 years post-graduation) are all eligible to apply for a Derby Talent Programme Internship. The successful candidate will be paid £11.44 an hour through the University’s Student Employment Agency (SEA). The 6-month and 9-month roles are only open graduates or second year students looking for a placement year opportunity.
