A Welcome Hero at the University of Derby provides information, guidance, and support to facilitate a welcoming environment for new and returning students, their families, and staff from across the institution.
Role Requirements:
· Provide a welcoming environment for new and returning students, demonstrating a cheerful and positive tone
· Acting as a clear point of contact for students and staff across each of the university sites
· Signpost new and returning students to key services, activities and information so they can become comfortable in their learning environment
· Assist students with their queries and help alleviate pressure on key services (such as the Student Hub and Reception Desks)
· Provide digital help to new and returning students, i.e., helping students access their timetable through UDo
· Assist with collecting student voice through student feedback mechanisms such as surveys
· Plan and deliver social media content with the support of the Student Engagement & Enhancement Team
· Act as a positive ambassador for the University.
· Take responsibility for own health and safety, acting as a role model for other Welcome Heroes and the University community.

· This role is highly active and involves frequent standing, movement, and direct interaction with students throughout the day. · Welcome Heroes may appear in photographs, videos and other content for social media channels during the Welcome period unless there is reason for them to be exempt. We ask all successful Welcome Heroes to complete a content consent forming giving you the choice if you wish to appear in such content.
· Welcome Heroes are required to wear a uniform- a “Welcome Hero’ t-shirt or hoodie’ will be provided whilst on shift. This must be worn so students are able to identify you and must be returned after your final shift.
All Welcome Heroes are required to attend one of the following training sessions which will last 1 hour. As training is mandatory for this role, please only apply if you are available for at least one of the scheduled dates. Students will be paid 1 hour for attending this training session.
